How will Licorice Root help me?
Also known as ‘sweet root’ licorice is well used as a confectionery flavouring, but its value goes far beyond that, and the medicinal use of Licorice goes back several thousand years.
Licorice root has been used by traditional herbalists as a general supplement, for respiratory support, and support of the liver and glandular system. Licorice is included in most Asian herbal combinations to balance the other herbs and to promote vitality. It has a reputation for bringing the entire body into balance and was used by Buddhist monks to clear the mind before meditation.
Licorice contains triterpenoid saponins, flavonoids, isoflavonoids, magnesium, silicon, sodium and other beneficial constituents. Flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds found in plants. They contain antioxidant properties that contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Is Licorice Root suitable for everyone?
Licorice Root is not suitable for use during pregnancy or for those planning to conceive.
